Choosing Where Imports Go & Importing Multiple Files

Where do imported swings end up?

Imports go into the session you're currently viewing. If you're looking at your "Range Session March 30" and import a video, the new swing appears right there — not in some default session.

This works the same way whether you're importing from Files, Photos, or dragging and dropping on Mac.

How does MotionEdge know which session I mean?

It depends on what's on your screen:

On iPhone:

  • If you've tapped into a session (you're on the Session Hub screen), imports go into that session
  • If you're on the main Sessions tab without drilling into a specific session, imports go into General

On iPad:

  • If a session is selected in the sidebar, imports go into that session
  • If no session is highlighted, imports go into General

On Mac:

  • If a session is selected in the sidebar, imports go into that session
  • If you're in All Swings mode (no session selected), imports go into General

The rule is simple: what you see is where it goes. Navigate to the session you want, then import.

Can I import multiple videos at once?

Yes. When the file picker opens, you can select as many videos as you want — they'll all be imported into the same session in one batch.

On iPhone/iPad:

  • In the Files picker, tap each video you want to select, then tap Open
  • In the Photos picker, tap multiple videos to select them, then tap Add

On Mac:

  • Hold Cmd and click to select multiple files, or Shift-click to select a range, then click Open
  • You can also drag and drop multiple files directly into the app

Each selected file becomes its own swing in the target session — so selecting 5 videos creates 5 separate swings, ready for analysis.

What if I imported into the wrong session?

No problem. Every swing can be moved after import:

  1. Open the swing in Video Review
  2. Tap the overflow menu (⋯)
  3. Choose Move to Session
  4. Pick the correct session

The swing moves instantly — all analysis, filmstrip data, and annotations come with it.

What's the best workflow for a range session?

Here's a workflow that keeps everything organized:

  1. Create a session for today's practice (e.g., "Range Mar 30" or "Driver Work")
  2. Navigate into that session so it's your active view
  3. Import all your videos at once — select them all in the file picker
  4. Each video becomes a swing in your session, ready for filmstrip generation, pose analysis, and AI coaching

This is especially useful when you've been filming with the Camera app or a friend's phone and have a batch of videos to bring in. One import action, everything lands in the right place.

Does batch import work with Photos and Files?

Both. You can multi-select from your Photos library or from the Files app. The behavior is the same — every selected video becomes its own swing in whichever session you're currently viewing.

Tip: If you filmed with the built-in Camera app, your videos are in Photos. If someone AirDropped or texted you videos, they'll be in Photos too. If you downloaded videos from cloud storage, check the Files app.

What about TrackMan files and .mef files?

The same session targeting applies to all import types:

  • TrackMan stroke files (.tms) — imported into the session you're viewing
  • MotionEdge Files (.mef) — these contain a complete session, so they create their own session on import (the session name comes from the .mef file)
  • TrackMan report links — imported into the session you're viewing

I imported a bunch of videos but they're all in General — what happened?

This means you weren't inside a specific session when you imported. You were probably on the main Sessions list (iPhone) or had no session selected in the sidebar (iPad/Mac).

To fix it: select the swings and use Move to Session to relocate them. To prevent it next time: tap into the session you want before opening the import picker.
