Recycle Bin, Data Deletion & Shared Sessions

Does the Recycle Bin require iCloud Sync?

Yes — the Recycle Bin is an iCloud Sync feature. When iCloud Sync is enabled, deleted items move to the Recycle Bin with a 30-day recovery window. The Recycle Bin option appears in Settings only when sync is turned on.

If iCloud Sync is disabled, deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no Recycle Bin, no recovery window — deleted swings and sessions are removed from your device right away. Be certain before you delete.

Everything below applies when iCloud Sync is enabled.

What happens when I delete a swing or session?

When you delete a swing or session, it moves to the Recycle Bin. It stays there for 30 days, giving you time to recover it if you change your mind. After 30 days, it's permanently removed.

This works the same way whether you delete a single swing or an entire session. Deleting a session moves all its swings to the Recycle Bin together.

What exactly moves to the Recycle Bin?

Everything associated with that item travels together:

When you delete a swing:

  • All video files (every camera angle you recorded)
  • Pose data and skeleton landmarks
  • Filmstrip frames
  • Drawings and annotations
  • TrackMan data linked to that swing
  • Apple Watch data for that swing
  • Comments on that swing

When you delete a session:

  • The session itself
  • Every swing in that session (with all their data listed above)

Nothing is left behind. And when you recover an item, everything comes back together — you don't lose your pose data or annotations.

How do I recover a deleted item?

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Recycle Bin (you'll see a count of items if anything is in there)
  3. Find the item you want to recover
  4. Tap Recover

The item reappears in your session list or swing list exactly where it was.

Can I permanently delete items before 30 days?

Yes. In the Recycle Bin, you can:

  • Swipe left on an individual item and tap "Delete Permanently" to remove just that item
  • Tap "Empty Recycle Bin" to permanently delete everything in the bin at once

Both actions show a confirmation dialog first — permanent deletion cannot be undone.

How does deletion work in shared sessions?

When you share a session with someone and either of you deletes a swing:

  • The deleted swing goes to the deleter's Recycle Bin
  • The other participant sees the swing disappear from the shared session
  • The deletion syncs through iCloud to all participants

If the item is recovered within 30 days, it reappears for everyone. After the 30-day window (or if you permanently delete it), it's gone for all participants.

There's no special permission required — any participant in a shared session can delete swings from it.

Does the Recycle Bin affect my storage?

On your device: Yes — items in the Recycle Bin still take up local storage. A 500MB swing video in the Recycle Bin still uses 500MB on your device until it's permanently deleted.

Tip: If you're running low on device storage, check your Recycle Bin. Emptying it frees space immediately.

What if I want to keep a swing but remove it from a shared session?

Deletion is the only way to remove a swing from a shared session. If you want to keep a copy for yourself, export the session as a .mef file first, then delete the swing from the shared session. You can import the .mef file to recover your personal copy.
