Share this frame — Send a Still of This Playhead
You paused on the frame that tells the story — trail elbow flying, hips sliding, face wide open — and you want that picture in a text thread or on Stories. Share this frame is that job. It is not the clip. It is a JPEG of this playhead, with the lines you already have on the video burned in, an optional caption you place yourself, then the regular iOS / iPadOS / macOS share sheet.
Share this frame is in MotionEdge 1.1 and later. On 1.0.1 the overflow menu will not show this row. Update to 1.1 (or newer) and it sits under Share Video.
How do I open Share this frame?
- Open the swing in Video Review.
- Pause or scrub to the frame you want. The still is this playhead, not a random keyframe. On a split view, the still comes from the Video Player pane even if you last tapped Filmstrip or Posture.
- Tap the overflow menu (⋯) at the page level — not the video pane's More menu.
- Tap Share this frame. It sits under Share Video (or under Share Image / Share Report if that other pane is focused).
A preview opens. Playback pauses so the playhead stays put. Cancel backs out without sharing. Share writes the JPEG and hands it to the system share sheet.
What is in the picture?
Whatever is on the video canvas at that playhead:
- Pose lines, setup overlays, and angle marks — if those overlays are on
- Your drawings — if you drew them
- Ghost — if Ghost is on for that pane
- Flip — if you flipped the video
The recipient does not need MotionEdge. The lines are pixels in the JPEG.
Not in the picture: the page chrome, the play bar, the scrubber, the Draw rail, or the ⋯ menu. This is the swing, not a screenshot of the app.
How do I crop and reframe?
Four crops, mutually exclusive. Frame is the default — the video's own shape, "what I paused."

Pinch to zoom, drag to reframe. If the still does not fill the crop, the unfilled area is black — pinch out until it covers, or leave the bars. Portrait keeps a little extra room at the bottom so Stories chrome does not eat a caption sitting on the lower third.
Can I add a caption?
Yes — one optional pill. Off by default.
- Tap Add caption, then type a short line, or tap Use position name when the playhead sits on a filmstrip slot (Address, Top, Impact, Finish, and the rest).
- Drag the pill where you want it.
- Pick typeface, size, and color on the sheet. White and black are both there because sky and dark trees both happen; the plate behind the type auto-contrasts so you are not fighting the grass.
- Remove caption (or clear the text) takes it off.
The caption is share-only. It is composited into that JPEG and is not saved on the swing. Drawings stay; this pill does not. Next time you share the same frame, start the caption again if you want one.
Where does Share send it?
Share opens the system share sheet — Messages, Instagram, X, Mail, Files, Save Image, AirDrop, whatever is on the device. MotionEdge does not post for you.
Share Video is still the clip. That is a different row, same menu. Use it when you want the motion; use Share this frame when you want the still.
How is this different from Share Image?

Share this frame stays in page ⋯ on a split iPad view even if Filmstrip or Posture is focused. It is omitted only when there is no Video Player pane at all (1-up Filmstrip, for example).
What if it cannot share the frame?
If the clip is still coming down from iCloud, wait until it finishes downloading and try again. If the video is already on the device, pause on the frame and try once more.
