How do I trim a swing video?
A tighter clip is easier for the filmstrip to read. Start a second or two before address and end a second or two after the finish. You do not need to be frame-precise. Cut the long lead-in and the time spent watching the ball.
Trim on the Video Player
The controls are the same on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
- Open the swing and stay on the Video Player panel.
- On the video controls, choose Trim video (the scissors).
- Drag the yellow start and end handles on the scrubber. A yellow caption shows the frames you are keeping, such as Trim: 12–48 (37 frames).
- Choose the yellow Trim button.
Choose the scissors again to leave trim without saving.
The scissors are grayed out while a ghost overlay is on. Turn Ghost off, then trim.
The scissors are hidden while a reference video is on that player. Close that reference, then trim.
Save the trimmed video
For a swing already in a session, Trim opens a confirmation titled Save Trimmed Video. The message is "How would you like to save the trimmed video?"
On iPhone, iPad, and Mac the buttons are the same. Mac shows the save choice as a dialog with those same three actions.
- Save as New Swing keeps the original and adds another swing.
- Overwrite Existing replaces that swing's video. The filmstrip is detected again from the shorter clip.
- Cancel leaves the original alone.
If the video is only in iCloud, MotionEdge downloads it before trim starts. The review screen reads Downloading Video…. That download is covered in Optimize Local Storage.
Auto-trim on import
A separate import path can offer Auto-trim to swing? with Auto-Trim and Skip.
You can trim the clip in Photos before you import, as Better Filmstrip Results already says.
