My Swings — Your Personal Collection
My Swings is the collection every install already has. It is where sessions land until you put them somewhere else. There is one of these per signed-in account once sync is on. Collections you name yourself are separate, even when they use the same words.
My Swings is in MotionEdge 2.1 and later, with Collections. On 1.0.1 there is no collection header and no My Swings row — sessions are just sessions.
Which version of MotionEdge is this for?
MotionEdge 2.1 and later, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. If you do not see My Swings (or you still only have a flat Sessions list with nothing to share as a collection), you are on an earlier build.
Turning on sync, and sharing a collection, both need MotionEdge Pro. Joining a collection someone shared with you also needs Pro. See Collections — How Sharing Works.
What is My Swings?
It is your personal collection.
- New sessions go here unless you pick another collection.
- Capture, import, and New Session default here.
- You cannot rename it and you cannot delete it. It is the home that leftover work files back into.
- With only this collection and nothing shared, the Sessions list looks the way it always did — no extra header. The name shows up once you have another collection, or someone has shared with you.
You can still share My Swings, the same way you share any collection. If you do, everyone you invite sees everything in it. Private work belongs in a collection you have not shared, or stays in My Swings with nobody invited. Details: Collections — How Sharing Works.
What happens when I turn on sync?
Sign in with Apple, then turn on sync in Settings → Sync & Sharing.
This device's My Swings becomes the same My Swings as your other devices. Sessions that were already in My Swings here are added to whatever is already in My Swings on those devices. Nothing already there is replaced. A range day you filmed on the iPad and a lesson you filmed on the iPhone both show up in one My Swings.
That merge is only for My Swings. It is the one collection the account treats as yours on every device.
If two devices each had a session with the same name — two rows that both read "Sep 8 — iPad", for example — you will see both. They are two sessions that happen to share a label. Rename one if you want them distinct.
Why do I see the same collection name twice?
Collections you create are identified by the collection itself, not by the name on it. The name is a label you typed.
If you made a collection called Lessons on your iPhone and another called Lessons on your iPad, then turned on sync, you will see Lessons twice. That is expected. Each device created its own collection; sync brings both of them to every device. They do not combine just because the names match.
My Swings is the exception. After sync you should see one My Swings, with this device's sessions added to the others.
To combine two named collections: move the sessions from one into the other (Move to Collection), then delete the empty one.
Where should I put work I do not want to share?
Leave it in My Swings and do not invite anyone into My Swings. Or move those sessions into a collection you have not shared.
Sharing is the collection, not the session. There is no per-session hide.
