Swing Scorecard, Session Scorecard, and AI Coach
Start with one swing, then look for a pattern. Swing Scorecard explains the measured checks for a single swing. Session Scorecard puts swings together so you can see which checks repeat. AI Coach is where you ask what those observations mean for your practice.
Do I need MotionEdge Pro?
Yes. Swing Scorecard and Session Scorecard require MotionEdge Pro. Their calculations run on your device and do not use AI credits. Local processing describes where the work happens; it does not mean the scorecards are free.
AI Coach also requires Pro, an internet connection, and available coaching allowance. Coach replies use your allowance; opening a local scorecard does not. Pro includes a monthly allowance, with optional AI Coach Packs for more.
Where do I open a single swing's scorecard?
- Open a swing from a session or your swing library.
- Tap the panel header to choose Swing Scorecard.
- Use Cards to browse checks. Tap a check to inspect its measurement and explanation. Review gives you the local review in a reading view.
Checks compare available measurements with reference ranges. A verdict tells you where that measurement sits; the value tells you what was measured. Read both before deciding what to change.
A score is a summary of the checks that could be scored. It is not your handicap, a prediction of your next shot, or a requirement to copy a tour player's swing. An observation outside a reference range needs context: your shot intent, camera view, and the rest of the motion.
What do measured, not measured, and n/a mean?
These states answer different questions:
| State | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Measured and graded | MotionEdge had enough information to compare this check with its reference range. Session verdicts are Good, Room to gain, or Work on. | Read the value and open the swing at the relevant position. |
| Not measured or a gray – | The check applies, but this clip did not supply a usable measurement. Reasons can include setup missing from the clip, the club not being tracked, or too few frames in the downswing. | Read the reason. Improve the recording or check the swing's details before treating this as a technique problem. |
| n/a or Doesn't apply | The check does not apply to this swing, such as a different club or shot type, or it is not a scored check for this analysis. | Leave it out of your judgment. It is not missing evidence or a failed check. |
“1 of 5 measured” means only 1 of the 5 applicable swings supplied that check. Swings marked n/a are excluded from that coverage count. A result based on one measurement is a reason to collect more evidence before calling it a session pattern.
Some numbers appear for context, not scored, including the Session Scorecard's Ball & club section when launch-monitor data is available. They are useful to discuss alongside the movement checks without treating them as part of the overall score.
Where do I find patterns across a session?
Open a session, choose Session Stats, then select Scorecard. The session's scorecard card also leads into this view.
- By check puts the same check across swings, making repeated results easier to spot.
- By swing groups the results around each swing.
- Verdict, Score, and Value change what the cells show.
- The Club filter narrows the view. Camera views and club groups have separate sections so unlike measurements are not blended together.
Tap a check's tally to see the swings behind it. Open a swing or check cell to review the footage; check cells jump to the relevant checkpoint when available. Use Compare selected from the check's swing list to inspect examples together.
Look for a repeated, measured result across comparable swings. Check coverage before comparing totals, especially when one clip has more usable measurements than another. Scoring or Updating means results are still being prepared; No scored swings yet is not a zero score.
How do I discuss these results with AI Coach?
- Open a swing that illustrates the result you want to discuss.
- Choose Discuss this swing with AI Coach from Swing Review.
- In Share with AI Coach, check the golfer and shot intent, choose the conversation, and add your question.
- Select Send to AI Coach. The conversation opens with that swing's review and supporting context. Continue there, or return to it from AI Coach later.
For a session pattern, share the relevant swings into the same conversation and describe what you noticed. Do not assume the coach has inspected every swing in your library just because it appears in Session Scorecard.
Useful questions include:
- “This check is marked Work on in several iron swings from the same camera angle. What should I look at in the frames before changing anything?”
- “Only 1 of 5 swings measured this check. Is this a filming problem, and what should I record next?”
- “Compare these two swings. Which measured difference is worth focusing on for my intended shot?”
- “Give me one practice cue, and tell me what evidence to look for in my next recording.”
The scorecards are computed locally. Sending a question and swing to AI Coach sends the relevant frames, measurements, and messages through MotionEdge's coaching service. See AI Coach for the data flow and conversation details.
What should I take to my next practice session?
Choose one observation supported by enough usable swings. Review the footage, ask a specific question, and record another comparable set after practicing. Keep the camera position and club consistent when judging a change.
A camera cannot measure everything about a golf shot. Missing measurements are not proof of bad technique, and a better score does not guarantee a better shot. Use the scorecard alongside your ball flight, any launch-monitor data, and guidance from your instructor.
